On July 17th, the OWLS delighted in Mary Lou’s chicken
casserole creation, veggies, rolls and pie...yum, yum!.
Then we enjoyed several rounds of BINGO with some
very nice prizes provided by the attendees. Jean Martin
was the luckiest of all. She won 4 games!
August 21: Pastor Pat will give a presentation about his
recent trip to Georgia (the country in Europe, not the state
in the US). Plan now to join us for what we know will be a
special day. Sign up in the narthex.
September 18: Shelley Melewski will present one of her
memorable piano programs. Her theme this year will be
50’s music. And since lyrics are an important part of what
makes songs from that era special, some songs will be
sung by members of our congregation as Shelley accompanies
them.
October 16: We will continue our tradition of celebrating
Oktoberfest with the famous Oberlander preparation of
brats, German potato salad, etc. Then, did you know that
World Poetry Day used to be in October and poetry
day still is celebrated in October in Great Britain. So, we
are going to have our own poetry day on October 16.
We’re asking that everyone who attends bring a poem or
two (of any kind) to share with the group.
November 20: plans are undecided...but plan to come
anyway, you know at a minimum, you’ll eat a home
cooked meal for $5.00, get to visit with your friends and
have some kind of fun activity.
December 18: back by popular demand, we’ll play
Pass the Parcel—an English game where a “ball” of
presents is passed around and opened guided by the
starting and stopping of music.
