Our Oktoberfest celebration was wonderbar on October 16th.  Many thanks to Mary Lou and Gary for making this day so special.  Mary Lou made us new green table cloths ( by adding red and gold colored place mats, we had the colors of the German flag), Gary grilled the brats to perfection, they provided decorations including authentic German steins AND they wore authentic German attire!   And we appreciated Marleen Merrill’s help putting together the beautiful black forest cake cups.  Then we had a delightful time sharing our favorite poems with one another along with a few stories.  Turns out many of us have parents/grandparents who wrote poetry and/or prose.

November 20:  Sign up the narthex for our next time of fun and fellowship.  We’ll find out what used to be in locations around Raytown that are familiar to us now in a presentation by Charlotte Belger from the Raytown Historical Society..

December 18:   Plan now to join us for a holiday feast followed by a round of Pass the Parcel—in this English party game everyone gets a gift….but they may have to do something silly to get it.
