The OWLS had a "hula" va good time on August 19th.  Everyone came dressed in their best island attire to enjoy our first every luau.  Lunch included giant croissants filled with fruited chicken salad, chips, and  a rainbow fruit salad that was a much a feast for the eyes as it was to the palate all topped off with a beautiful coconut cake.  Then we played some games to learn more about Hawaii and about each other.

September 16th - "School days, School days!

OWLS are celebrating our school days this month because for us "old folks" school days didn't begin until September.  Wear your school colors, bring your year book and/or other school picture(s). We'll eat and reminisce about those "good old golden rule days".

October 21st - Oktoberfest!
Starring brats, German potato salad, Black Forest cake AND...
German polka band, the Alpen Spielers. This dynamic and energetic group will perform a variety of music from waltzes to marches...ballads to polka's.
Ask anyone who heard them last year...they will all agree that it is not-to-be-missed-toe-tapping good fun!

No OWLS were pinched on March 18th.  Even if folks didn't arrive in green, there were lots of accessories to remedy that.  Everyone visited our photo booth to capture our "wearin' 'o the green" and each person received a copy of their picture as a memento at the end of our time together.  Mary Lou and Gary Oberlander once again outdid themselves by preparing a fantastic meal for us of Irish Stew, Soda Bread and Pistachio Pudding Dessert.  Then the shenanigans began with a tater toss which was won by Marleen Merrill with Dot Mitchell in close second place.  Our complete-the limerick contest and matching Irish slang words to the real meaning were won by the clever Linda Dickison.  The champion of our Roll-a-Leprechaun game was Connie McPherin.  And, everyone was a winner in our St Patrick's themed game of pictionary.

April 15th - We've  all heard that April showers bring May flowers....so....we've invited Master Gardener, Mary Wood to give a presentation that will  help us have a bloomin' good summer.

May 20th - Director, Jim Bagby and The New Harmony Handful, a mini-chorus representing the Barbershop Harmony Society, will entertain us.  This has become a favorite event in our yearly programming.  We hope everyone will come and bring a friend....just be sure to let us know how many are coming.

OWLS celebrated Christmas on  December 18th with baked ham, a gratin potatoes, Christmas cookies and more followed by a trivia game that required some serious thinking...

…..and a gift exchange that did not...well, at least not as long as our story teller, Mike Schumacher, didn’t read too quickly.!

January 21st, we’ll ring in the new year with good food, fellowship and BINGO!
February 18th, come to the Mardi Gras!  We’ll enjoy some New Orleans style decorations and food.  AND enjoy a  presentation by Dee Roach about her recent trip to Africa to visit her daughter who is a missionary there.  Dee has a very lively personality which we are sure will make the day delightful.
March 18th, keep out your “greens” for one more day since we’re going to keep our Irish eyes smiling with a St Patrick’s theme that day.  We’ll play some regular BINGO...and...some IRISH BINGO!
